Plastering Technician

About the Role
You'll provide practical and technical support within a plastering workshop, helping to create a safe, well‑organised and effective learning environment for students developing their trade skills. Working alongside lecturers and assessors, you'll ensure that facilities, tools and materials are ready for each session and that learners can practise safely and effectively.
This is a hands‑on role suited to someone with a genuine trade background in plastering who takes pride in maintaining high standards of workshop practice and wants to pass that knowledge on to the next generation of tradespeople.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing materials, tools and equipment ahead of practical plastering sessions.
- Maintaining workshop areas to a high standard of organisation, cleanliness and safety.
- Supporting lecturers and assessors during practical demonstrations and student activities.
- Monitoring and maintaining stock levels of materials and consumables.
- Ensuring all tools and equipment are properly maintained, stored and accounted for.
- Supporting compliance with health and safety requirements within workshop settings.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A strong vocational background in plastering, gained through trade experience
- A relevant trade qualification (such as an NVQ or City & Guilds in Plastering)
- Sound practical skills and a thorough understanding of safe working practices
- The ability to work well as part of a team supporting learners and teaching staff
Desirable (but not essential):
- Previous experience working in a college, training or education environment
- A teaching or assessing qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
