The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Functional Skills Tutor to join a leading education and training provider within a secure custodial environment. In this role, you will deliver essential Maths and English courses to small, focused groups of adult learners, helping them build the foundational skills and confidence they need to unlock future employment opportunities and achieve their long-term life goals.
What You Will Be Doing
- Targeted Delivery: Teach Functional Skills Maths and English to small groups of prison-based learners with varied educational backgrounds.
- Tailored Planning: Create and implement individual training plans to give learners the specific support and guidance they need.
- Engaging Lessons: Use a wide range of interactive and adaptable training methods to keep learners motivated and focused.
- Supporting Rehabilitation: Act as a mentor, helping learners see the real-world value of math and literacy to help them prepare for a successful release.
What We Are Looking For
- Subject Knowledge: A Level 3 qualification in Maths and English (or equivalent) along with strong experience in the field.
- Training Experience: Experience in delivering vocational or educational training to others.
- Adaptability: The ability to engage with learners who may have faced educational disadvantages or have low initial confidence.
No Teaching Qualification? No Problem! While a teaching or assessing qualification is desirable, our client will fully support and fund you to gain the appropriate qualifications during your probationary period.
