An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Course Leader in Motor Vehicle to join a well-established Further Education college in Yorkshire. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Motor Vehicle lecturer or curriculum leader looking to take the next step in their career.

As Course Leader, you will provide academic leadership across Motor Vehicle programmes, ensuring outstanding curriculum delivery, high-quality teaching, and excellent learner outcomes.

The Role

Reporting into the curriculum management team, you will provide the first level of leadership for Motor Vehicle programmes, ensuring teaching remains engaging, relevant and aligned with awarding body requirements and current industry standards. You will take ownership of your courses, supporting teaching staff, monitoring quality, and driving continuous improvement to deliver an outstanding learner experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the delivery of Motor Vehicle programmes, ensuring curriculum content remains current and industry relevant.
  • Develop and review schemes of work and learning resources to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Drive improvements in student retention, achievement, attendance and progression.
  • Monitor the quality of teaching, learning and assessment (TLA) across your courses.
  • Complete course-level Self-Assessment Reports (SAR) and maintain Quality Improvement Plans (QIP).
  • Lead on attendance, learner engagement and behaviour management, implementing timely interventions where required.
  • Provide day-to-day support, guidance and coaching to teaching staff to promote high standards and consistency.
  • Carry out internal verification and moderation activities to ensure assessment quality and compliance with awarding body requirements.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Level 5 teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed or equivalent).
  • A relevant vocational qualification or degree in Motor Vehicle or a related subject.
  • Recent experience delivering Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 Motor Vehicle programmes within Further Education.
  • Strong knowledge of current industry practices and awarding body requirements.
  • Experience monitoring learner progress and improving achievement and retention.
  • Knowledge of internal verification, moderation and quality assurance processes.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
