An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer in Engineering Drawings / CAD to join a growing engineering curriculum team in Barrow-in-Furness. This role would suit either an experienced Engineering Lecturer or an industry professional with strong CAD and technical drawing experience who is looking to move into education. If you have a passion for developing future engineering talent and hold a minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering alongside qualifications and practical experience in CAD/AutoCAD, we would love to hear from you.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, training and assessment across engineering drawing and computer-aided design programmes, equipping learners with the technical skills required for successful careers in modern engineering environments.
Key responsibilities:- Delivering engaging and practical lessons in Engineering Drawings, CAD and AutoCAD.
- Teaching learners how to interpret and produce technical engineering drawings to industry standards.
- Planning and preparing learning materials, schemes of work and lesson plans.
- Assessing learner progress and providing timely, constructive feedback.
- Supporting learners to achieve their full potential and career aspirations.
- Maintaining accurate learner records in line with awarding body and organisational requirements.
- Embedding current industry practices, software and standards into teaching delivery.
- Supporting apprenticeship and employer engagement activities where required.
- Ensuring safe and effective use of engineering and IT-based learning environments.
- Contributing to quality improvement and curriculum development activities.
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- A minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Qualifications and/or substantial industry experience in CAD and AutoCAD.
- Experience producing and interpreting engineering drawings within an engineering environment.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A passion for sharing your knowledge and supporting learner success.
- A teaching qualification is desirable but not essential. Full support will be provided for industry candidates looking to transition into teaching and gain a recognised teaching qualification.
- Salary up to 37,000 per annum.
