Lecturer - Bricklaying
Permanent Full Time 37 Hours per Week
Salary: 35,000 - 41,00 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications
Are you an experienced bricklaying professional looking to step out of the site and into the classroom?
About the Role
As a Bricklaying Lecturer, you'll pass on your hands‑on construction expertise to the next generation of bricklayers in a dynamic, well‑equipped workshop environment. Working with an established education provider, you'll deliver practical training, coaching and underpinning knowledge that prepares learners for a successful career in the trade.
You’ll run classroom‑style sessions, one‑to‑one tutorials and student reviews, supporting learners to develop both technical skill and professional standards. You’ll also play a key role in maintaining a safe, well‑organised workshop, ensuring equipment, tools and materials are properly managed and that students work to strict health and safety requirements throughout.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Delivering practical bricklaying training, coaching and underpinning knowledge to learners.
-
Running classroom‑style workshops, one‑to‑one tutorials and student reviews.
-
Supporting lecturers by setting up and assisting with vocational learning activities.
-
Supervising student practical work to ensure strict health and safety compliance.
-
Maintaining a clean, safe and organised bricklaying workshop environment.
-
Keeping up to date with essential safety regulations, including COSHH, and acting as a First Aider.
-
Checking, maintaining and carrying out minor repairs on specialist tools and equipment.
-
Managing workshop stock levels and maintaining accurate material inventories.
-
Ensuring all equipment and building materials are safely cleaned and stored.
-
Assessing student competence against pre‑determined industry criteria.
-
Supervising learners during exams, site visits and practical tests.

Experience working in the bricklaying trade

-
Previous experience delivering training or coaching, either formally or informally
If you don’t yet hold a teaching qualification, that’s not a barrier. Many successful lecturers come from industry, and you’ll be supported with training, mentoring and ongoing development to help you thrive in the classroom.
