Learning Support Practitioner- HMP The Mount Permanent Salary: £26,227.50 per annum Start date: 6 October 2026 Are you a patient, encouraging individual looking for a role where your support genuinely changes lives? About the Role We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Practitioner to join an education provider in the justice sector, helping learners within a prison education setting to access and succeed in their learning. This is a rewarding opportunity to work alongside tutors and learners on their rehabilitation journey, supporting them to build the skills, confidence and qualifications needed to move forward into employment, training or further education. You'll work closely with learners who have a wide range of educational backgrounds, additional learning needs and abilities, many of whom will have had difficult experiences of education in the past. Your role will be to remove barriers to learning, build trust and help learners engage fully with their studies. Your responsibilities will include: Providing one-to-one and small group support to learners in the classroom. Helping learners to understand and complete tasks set by the tutor. Supporting learners with additional learning needs, including literacy, numeracy and behavioural challenges. Encouraging learner engagement, motivation and progress throughout the session. Assisting with the preparation of learning materials and resources. Maintaining accurate records of learner progress and support provided. Working collaboratively with tutors and the wider education team to adapt support to individual needs. What We're Looking For Essential: Experience supporting learners in an educational or training environment Strong communication and interpersonal skills Patience, empathy and resilience when working with diverse learners A genuine belief in the potential of every learner, regardless of background Desirable (but not essential): Experience working within a prison, justice or other secure setting A relevant qualification in learning support, teaching assistance or similar Knowledge of additional learning needs and strategies to support them If you're ready to bring your patience, skill and commitment to a role that genuinely makes a difference, we'd love to hear from you.
