Are you a dedicated educator driven by the belief that every learner deserves a pathway to independence? We are seeking a Specialist Lecturer to join our inclusive education community, specifically working with EHCP learners across a spectrum of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and SEMH profiles.

This role is about more than classroom delivery; it is about empowering students from Entry Level 1 through to Level 1 to master the skills they need for life. You will be the architect of their success, blending functional skills with practical employability training to ensure our learners are ready for the world beyond the college gates.

Benefits

  • Professional Growth: Teacher training provided for unqualified candidates looking to start their career in FE.
  • Inclusive Culture: Join an award-winning team dedicated to transforming lives across a far-reaching community.
  • Generous Pension & Terms: Competitive local government/teachers’ pension schemes.
  • Specialist Support: Access to a wider network of SEND practitioners and holistic support teams.

Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Delivery: Design and deliver high-impact learning programmes focused on life skills, employability, and Functional Skills (English and Maths) from Entry Level 1 to Level 1.
  • Bespoke Planning: Create innovative schemes of work and learning materials tailored to a diverse cohort with varying packages of support.
  • Assessment Mastery: Coordinate and maintain detailed records of formative and summative assessments, tracking progress against EHCP objectives and academic milestones.
  • Student Advocacy: Act as a key point of contact for internal and external examination entries, ensuring all students are prepared and supported through their assessment journeys.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Work alongside support teams to ensure that each learner’s specific package of support is seamlessly integrated into their daily educational experience.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, or equivalent teaching qualification. (We also welcome applications from \”Unqualified\” candidates with relevant industry experience who are willing to work toward these.)
  • Practitioner Excellence: proven track record (or a profound desire) to support students with SEND and SEMH needs, navigating complex profiles with patience and strategy.
  • Adaptive Communication: possesses the ability to simplify complex concepts and engage learners who may face significant barriers to education.
  • Commitment to Excellence: dedicated to maintaining high standards of teaching and assessment, ensuring that \”every small win\” is a step toward long-term success.

Even if you don’t meet every single criteria listed, if you are a resilient individual with a genuine passion for supporting students and a willingness to learn, we would still love to hear from you.
