Do you want to play a key role in reducing reoffending by giving young adults and adult learners in custody the practical trade skills, safety habits, and confidence needed for post-release employment? We are recruiting for a practical, dedicated Painting & Decorating Tutor to join the vocational education team on-site at HMP Feltham. In this hands-on role, you will deliver practical P&D training and qualifications to small groups of prison-based learners, developing their technical craftsmanship, surface preparation skills, and workplace discipline to help them reach their full potential. What You Will Be Doing Vocational Instruction: Plan and deliver engaging Painting & Decorating training modules, combining practical workshop sessions with essential trade theory and surface preparation techniques. Individual Training Plans: Ensure tailored training plans are established for every learner, providing ongoing advice, guidance, and constructive feedback throughout their learning journey. Workplace Standards & Security: Instill strict industry standards-including health & safety, surface hygiene, tool control, and workshop cleanliness-within a secure learning environment. Progress Tracking: Assess learner work, track practical achievements, and maintain detailed course documentation in line with awarding body guidelines. Rehabilitation Focus: Build learner self-esteem, work-readiness, and motivation, aligning training directly with employment opportunities in the commercial and residential decorating sectors. What We Are Looking For Trade Qualifications: A Level 2 (or higher) vocational qualification in Painting & Decorating or a related construction trade. Vocational Expertise: Substantial hands-on industry experience as an expert painter, decorator, or finishing specialist. Training Experience: Proven experience delivering vocational or on-the-job trade training, with the ability to use varied delivery methods to engage learners with diverse needs. Teaching Qualifications: A teaching or assessing qualification is desirable. No teaching qualification? No problem!
