Are you an experienced FE SEND/Inclusion professional ready for your next leadership opportunity? We are recruiting for an Assistant Head of Department - Supported Learning to join an FE provider in [Area]. This is a key leadership role supporting the Head of Department and leading the effective coordination of learning support for students with SEND and High Needs.
The Role
- Lead and coordinate Learning Support provision across the department
- Manage and develop Learning Support Mentors and staff
- Allocate support and manage learning support timetables
- Support EHCP reviews, personalised curricula and student progress
- Lead on inclusive practice and reasonable adjustments
- Support quality assurance, learning walks and deep-dive activities
- Deputise for the Head of Department when required
- Work with parents, schools, local authorities and external SEND stakeholders
- Identify staff development needs and support inclusive teaching practice
About You
- Strong Further Education experience
- Extensive experience working within SEND, High Needs, Inclusion or Learning Support
- Experience leading, managing or coordinating a team
- Strong knowledge of EHCPs, reasonable adjustments and personalised learning
- Experience working with external SEND stakeholders
- A relevant teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, DET or equivalent
- Excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills
This role would suit an experienced Assistant Head, Head of Department, SEND/SEN Manager, Learning Support Manager or Inclusion Manager, or an experienced Senior/Lead Lecturer or SEND/ALS Lead looking to take the next step into management.
