About the Role
As a Mechanical Technician, you'll carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across a range of building services, keeping systems running safely and efficiently. Working with a further education provider in North Yorkshire, you'll play a key part in maintaining a safe, well-functioning environment for staff and learners alike. You'll work across domestic hot and cold water services (DHWS & DCWS) and HVAC systems, servicing, repairing and replacing equipment as needed. The role is based on a 37-hour week, typically 8.00am to 4.30pm, with a requirement to take part in a rota providing occasional weekend and evening cover.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on DHWS, DCWS and HVAC systems.
- Servicing, repairing and replacing thermostatic mixing valves on commercial water systems.
- Maintaining water quality across the facilities.
- Carrying out works from mobile elevated working platforms (MEWPs).
- Producing and following safe working procedures, including risk assessments and COSHH.
- Managing multiple workloads and priorities across the site.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- One of the following: NVQ Diploma in Engineering Maintenance, NVQ Extended Diploma in Engineering Maintenance, an Ordinary National Certificate (ONC) in Engineering, Level 3 (NVQ) Diploma in Electro-technical Services (Electrical Maintenance), or Level 3 (NVQ) Diploma in Installing Electro-technical Systems & Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment).
- Experience of PPM and reactive maintenance on DHWS, DCWS and HVAC systems in a facilities management environment.
- Significant in-depth experience working as a maintenance technician on commercial or industrial sites.
- Experience of carrying out works from mobile elevated working platforms (MEWPs).
- The ability to produce and follow safe working procedures, including risk assessment and COSHH.
- Knowledge, ability and experience of maintenance tasks on commercial DHWS and DCWS systems, including servicing, repair and replacement of thermostatic mixing valves.
- Knowledge and experience of PPM and reactive maintenance on water quality and HVAC systems.
- A highly focused and self-motivated approach, capable of managing multiple workloads and priorities.
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience of working with renewable energy such as solar thermal and air source heat pumps.
