Are you an experienced professional in construction management or civil engineering with a passion for developing the next generation of industry leaders? We are seeking two Higher Construction Skills Coaches to join our team and play a pivotal role in training and assessing apprentices working at Level 4 and above.
This role does not involve classroom teaching, but you will need to address groups of students and provide structured, clear, and accurate guidance on practical and theoretical aspects of construction.
What You\βll Be Doing
- Apprentice assessment: Assess apprentices\β on-the-job performance in accordance with College standards and awarding body requirements, including regular progress reviews and Individual Learning Plan updates.
- Workplace support: Visit students in their workplaces, set skill development targets with employers, and assess competency in line with apprenticeship standards.
- Course and administration management: Liaise with departments such as Exams, MIS, and ALS to ensure compliance, manage enrolments, and support induction programs.
- Student guidance: Conduct one-to-one meetings, set and review SMART targets, support academic and personal development, and liaise with cross-college services.
- Monitoring and reporting: Track attendance, achievement, and progress; report on course and student performance; and implement action plans where required.
- Professional collaboration: Work with colleagues to develop training methods and materials, participate in CPD and peer observation, and mentor other staff as required.
- Support English and Maths provision: Embed literacy and numeracy support within workplace assessments where appropriate.

- Extensive industry experience in construction management, civil engineering, or higher construction trades.
- Proven ability to assess and mentor apprentices in workplace environments.
- Strong communication skills for delivering clear, structured instructions to individuals and groups.
- Commitment to safeguarding, health & safety, equality, and compliance with statutory and College policies.
- Willingness to pursue relevant teaching or assessing qualifications (support provided).
- Current driving licence and access to own transport.
