We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lecturer in Motor Vehicle to deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across a range of Motor Vehicle programmes from Level 1 to Level 3. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting learners to achieve outstanding outcomes and develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours required for progression within the automotive industry. This role involves working with a diverse range of learners, including 16-18-year-olds, apprentices, and adult learners.

This position is open to fully qualified teachers only. Applicants must hold a recognised teaching qualification and have experience of delivering vocational education and training.

Essential Requirements
  • Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, Diploma in Education and Training, or equivalent).
  • Relevant Motor Vehicle qualification at Level 3 or above.
  • Current industry knowledge and practical experience within the Motor Vehicle sector.
  • Experience of delivering high-quality teaching and learning within further education, training, or apprenticeships.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Teaching, Learning & Assessment
    • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, inclusive learning sessions, including schemes of work and lesson plans, aligned with awarding body requirements (e.g. IMI, City & Guilds).
    • Teach both practical workshop skills and theoretical classroom knowledge across light vehicle chassis, engine, electrical, and transmission systems.
    • Embed modern automotive technologies, including hybrid and electric vehicle (EV) awareness, into the curriculum where relevant.
    • Apply formative and summative assessment methods to track learner progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
    • Monitor learner achievement and implement strategies to support successful outcomes.
    • Maintain a safe and effective learning environment in both workshop and classroom settings.
  2. Student Support & Progression
    • Act as a personal tutor, monitoring learner attendance, punctuality, progress, and overall performance.
    • Work collaboratively with learner support teams to implement individual learning plans and support strategies.
    • Prepare students effectively for examinations, synoptic assessments, employment, apprenticeships, and further study.
    • Promote positive learner behaviour, engagement, and professional standards.
  3. Quality & Administration
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of learner attendance, progress, assessment outcomes, and achievement using digital tracking systems.
    • Participate fully in internal verification, quality assurance, and continuous improvement activities.
    • Engage proactively in lesson observations, standardisation activities, and professional development opportunities.
    • Contribute to curriculum development and ensure teaching materials remain current and industry relevant.
    • Embed equality, diversity, inclusion, and sustainability principles throughout teaching and learning activities.
