The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

As the Shipping Team Leader for Dover Precision Components, you will be based at our main European facility in Polmadie, Glasgow, where we design and manufacture high-value bearings and mechanical seals for industrial applications, mainly within the power generation, oil, gas, and renewable energy markets.

In this role, you will coordinate the day-to-day activities of the shipping/logistics team and be responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient delivery of items to and from the site.

You will liaise closely with the sales, supply chain, and operations teams, ensuring the effective receipt and availability of inbound materials and the outbound dispatching of finished products across multiple international destinations, providing high-level proactive customer service, acting as the main contact, and using your initiative to resolve issues as they arise.

What You Will Bring:

  • Several years of experience in a shipping coordination role, ideally within a manufacturing organization
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in using incoterms, commodity codes, and tariff codes
  • Experience with logistics compliance procedures
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Team leadership experience is preferred but not essential

What You Will Do:

  • Oversee transport management using air, road, or sea freight, working with nominated logistics companies
  • Handle import/export documentation, customs entries, and compliance, liaising with the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce as needed
  • Ensure process compliance throughout the logistics timeline
  • Communicate effectively with customers and third parties to meet targets and ensure dispatches comply with Incoterms and customer requirements
  • Ensure accurate use of incoterms, commodity codes, and tariff codes
  • Package all outward shipments according to SOPs, including labeling and HSE standards
  • Monitor stock levels and advise on replenishment
  • Participate in audits to ensure compliance with purchasing policies
  • Prioritize and allocate workload within the team daily
  • Address team member concerns and welfare matters
  • Create a positive, motivating team environment
  • Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with HSE policies
  • Track, analyze, and monitor KPIs for team activities and objectives
  • Set goals, provide feedback, and conduct performance reviews
  • Support employee development and promote multi-skilling
