Work for Waukesha Bearings, a part of Dover Precision Components, and you will join a highly successful manufacturing plant based in Polmadie, Glasgow, where we produce and supply made-to-order mechanical components to customers globally. Our products consist of customised fluid-film bearings, seals and isolators. Typical applications are for industrial rotating and turbo machinery, marine vessels oil & gas and petro-chemical processing.

The Materials & Logistics Team Leader coordinates the Goods Inward and Shipping Functions, ensuring all incoming materials and outgoing finished goods are processed accurately, safely and on time, to support production and customer delivery requirements, acting as the key point of contact for the customer to ensure a smooth and effective service delivery.

What You Will Bring:

  • Established knowledge of international shipping protocols across all freight modes, including application of Incoterms, commodity codes, and tariff classifications.
  • Proven ability to manage complex import/export documentation and customs entries, including direct liaison with the Chamber of Commerce and proficiency in specialist logistics software such as Pacejet.
  • Experience in supervising the end-to-end "Goods In" process, ensuring 100% accuracy in ERP/MRP transactions, and maintaining rigorous quality control through effective collaboration with Purchasing and Quality departments.
  • Demonstrated competence in team management, including the ability to prioritise daily operational workloads, manage team welfare and performance, and cultivate a positive, high-performance culture.
  • A commitment to maintaining a safe working environment through strict adherence to HSE policies, SOPs, and workplace housekeeping standards, such as 5S methodology.
  • Skilled in the development, monitoring, and analysis of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and actively participating in internal and external audits to ensure total process compliance.

What You Will Do:

  • Goods In: Oversee receipt, inspection and booking-in of all incoming materials, components and consumables. Ensure deliveries are checked against purchase orders and delivery notes. Manage discrepancies, damages and quality issues in collaboration with Purchasing and Quality. Ensure accurate and timely ERP/MRP transactions. Control storage, labelling and material flow within the stores area.
  • Shipping: Transport management from/to customers using air, road or sea freight (using nominated freight & logistics companies). Processing all aspects of import/export documents, customs entries and compliance for export and import entries and clearance through customs via Pacejet system and liaise with Glasgow Chamber of Commerce when required on documentation. Responsible for process compliance throughout the logistics timeline. Communicating verbally and via email with customers and third parties to ensure end to end targets are achieved and despatch complies with Incoterms and customer requirements. Ensuring usage of incoterms / commodity code / tariff codes are accurate. Responsibility for shipments packaging of all outward shipments including clear labelling of product, in line with HSE standards.
  • Stock Control & Inventory Accuracy: Maintain accurate stock records and location control. Lead cycle counts and support stock audits. Investigate and resolve discrepancies. Ensure FIFO and material traceability standards are maintained.
  • General Leadership: Participate in internal/external audits to ensure compliance with all purchasing policies. Prioritise and allocate workload across the team each day. Create and maintain a positive and motivating team working environment. Create and maintain a safe working environment ensuring adherence to relevant HSE policies and procedures. Plan, track, analyse and monitor KPIs for the team and day to day activities as well as longer term objectives. Set goals and objectives for team members and provide feedback and support through regular effective recorded one to ones, annual appraisals, performance reviews.
