As the Shipping Team Leader for Dover Precision Components, you will be based at our main European facility in Polmadie, Glasgow, where we design and manufacture high-value bearings and mechanical seals for industrial applications, mainly within the power generation, oil, gas and renewable energy markets.
In this role you will coordinate the day-to-day work activities of the shipping / logistics team and be responsible for ensuring accurate, timely and efficient delivery of items to and from the site.
You will liaise closely with the sales, supply-chain and operations teams, ensuring the effective receipt and availability of the inbound materials inventory and for the outbound dispatching of finished products across multiple international destinations, providing a high level of proactive customer service, acting as the main point of contact and using your initiative in resolving any issues as and when they arise.
What You Will Bring
- Several years of experience working within a shipping coordination role ideally for a manufacturing organisation
- An advanced level of knowledge and demonstrable experience in using incoterms / commodity code / tariff codes
- Established experience of the compliance procedures existing throughout the logistics process
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Intermediate / Advanced Excel skills
- Team / people leadership experience is preferred but not essential
What You Will Do
- Oversee transport management from/to customers using air, road or sea freight (using nominated freight & logistics companies)
- Processing all aspects of import/export documents, customs entries and compliance for export and import entries and clearance through customs via Pacejet system and liaise with Glasgow Chamber of Commerce when required on documentation
- Responsible for process compliance throughout the logistics timeline
- Communicating verbally and via email with customers and third parties to ensure end to end targets are achieved and despatch complies with Incoterms and customer requirements
- Ensuring usage of incoterms / commodity code / tariff codes are accurate
- Packaging of all outward shipments as per the SOP’s, including clear labelling of product, in line with HSE standards
- Monitoring stock levels of cases and cartons and advising when replenishment is needed
- Participate in internal & external audits to ensure compliance with all purchasing policies
- Prioritise and allocate workload across the team each day
- First point of contact for team member issues, concerns or welfare matters
- Create and maintain a positive and motivating team working environment
- Create and maintain a safe working environment ensuring adherence to relevant HSE policies and procedures
- Plan, track, analyse and monitor KPIs for the team and day to day activities as well as longer term objectives
- Set goals and objectives for team members and provide feedback and support through regular effective regular recorded one to ones, annual appraisals, performance reviews
- Support employee development through identification of skills gaps and future requirements promote multi skilling
