The Goods Inwards Quality Inspector plays a critical role in upholding quality standards by ensuring strict compliance with established company processes and procedures. This position is responsible for verifying that all incoming components and materials meet defined specifications and quality standards prior to being accepted into inventory. Operating within a dynamic and fast-paced production environment, the role demands a versatile individual with proven experience in quality control. Proficiency in conventional metrology techniques is essential to accurately assess the quality of both products and the associated documentation.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- First Article inspection – creation of reports
- First Off checks (within goods inwards area only)
- Retention of inspection records
- Release / rejection of goods in items
- Identification status of Goods received
- Verifying supplier certification – retention of records in appropriate files
- Quarantining goods
- Calibration - ensuring inspection equipment is calibrated as required
- Customer returns – notification of Quality Engineers
- MRR / CAR creation
- T-cards (Safety / Continuous Improvement / FPO’s)
- Scanning documentation / electronic filing
- Maintaining records of inspection
- Liaison with Stores / Purchasing / Planning / Manufacturing Departments
- Create certificates of conformance
- Tier II attendance / participation
- Other duties as / when deemed necessary by Management
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
- Proven experience in a quality inspection role within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment
- Fully competent in reading and understanding engineering drawings, including knowledge and understanding of geometric tolerances.
- Proficient use of a range of conventional metrology gauges such as depth, external, internal and bore micrometers
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Sound knowledge of MS office experience
- Health and Safety culture
Qualifications:
- SVQ3, HNC or Time-served apprenticeship, or equivalent in a Mechanical Engineering discipline
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- UT/PT (SNT or PCN) qualification
- Understanding of ISO 9001 requirements
- Problem solving techniques
- Co-ordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) experience
- Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems
