With established manufacturing sites globally, we are now seeking to recruit an additional staff member due to a promotion at our facility in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.

ABOUT THE JOB: You will be responsible for bringing together the engineering and design content of customer proposals and for work orders. They will act as the primary liaison for the customer, on all technical matters involving the development and manufacture of products by interpreting specifications and design requirements and developing those into an engineered solution. They will instruct and guide design team members and check assembly drawings for accuracy of design intent and application specific information and will assist other Application Engineers with advanced analysis techniques when required.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Over 3 years of experience employed in an engineered product manufacturing environment for industrial-level rotating or reciprocating equipment, or components thereof such as compressors, turbines, pumps, generators, motors, gearboxes or similar
  • Very strong relationship building and communication skills, with the ability to present to and interface with customers continually
  • Familiarity with 3D AutoCAD & strong general IT skills
  • A thorough understanding of engineering principles and design practices
  • Demonstrated ability to create ideas and develop solutions, overcoming challenges to meet customer expectation

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Analyse product designs utilizing Dover Precision Components (DPC) tools and practices, interpret results and determine optimum solution to the customers’ requirement.
  • Prepare technical information for new projects to customers’ specifications.
  • Develop close working relationships with key customers’ technical contacts, ensuring that business opportunities are recognized and responded to appropriately at an early stage.
  • Significant customer interaction with respect to the engineering and management of projects, pre and post contract, for assigned accounts.
  • Support development of advanced analysis techniques (FEA, CFD, rotordynamics, etc.) and perform as required.
  • Support Applications Engineers on said techniques and/or coordinate 3rd party resources.
  • Support New Product Development team in creation of analytical methods for new products and product enhancements and document standard work processes, procedures and tools.
  • Interpret designs, assist/instruct Designers, perform all engineering calculations, examine specifications, expedite and process engineering changes.
  • Accountable for the successful completion of engineering projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering project proposals.
  • Participating in client/contractor meetings and resolving client/engineering and management project issues.
  • Ensure effective liaison within the Engineering group to build and maintain consistently high engineering standards and to drive relevant product development.
  • Support engineering process development and design for manufacturability efforts through specific assignments as directed by Engineering Management.
  • Lead training seminars at customer and/or internal sites as needed and be able to fine-tune the training to the specific needs of the audience.
