Position Summary
The Quality Inspection Supervisor (Value Stream Leader) manages the quality inspection team, to ensure objectives are met in the most efficient way, and our customers' needs are met. This role emphasises coordination, documentation, and people leadership rather than technical engineering expertise. There will be line management responsibility for 3 team members.
Responsibilities
- Supervising the work, people, and results in the inspection area, to inspect and evaluate the quality of purchased products and parts.
- Provide leadership, direction, management, and development of the inspection team and inspection areas.
- Set department objectives / KPIs, review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports.
- Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviours expected of them in particular HSE, and 5 S.
- Manage and lead the team, ensuring adequate staffing levels, managing holiday allowances, recruitment, training, development, appraisal, attendance, disciplinary issues and daily supervision to maximize efficient productivity.
- Coordinate personnel, tools, and parts to ensure inspection schedules are met, and throughput maintained to meet our internal and external customer needs.
- Manage workload and priorities, by ensuring a planning is defined, executed, and deviations are escalated.
- Deliver measurement reports to the quality team with conclusion and findings that allow for a decision to be made.
- Ensure compliance within the inspection function, with the standards applicable to our business (ATEX, MID). This includes ensuring the calibration status of our tools, master meter (provision) is up to date, archiving of declaration of conformity, inspection plans are followed, sampling is followed, deviation recorded via concessions.
- Plan and implement quality improvement programs using lean tools (A3, 8D.), drive daily operator generated Kaizen via the tier structure.
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice quality, vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
Qualifications
- Fluent English language, both verbal and written.
- Experience in managing a team.
- Experience of working in a continuous improvement / lean manufacturing environment.
- Ability to deal with people at all levels (Shopfloor / Senior management).
- Excellent problem-solving skills, and good knowledge of 5 WHY, ISHIKAWA.
- Good presentation skills, including common use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- A technical / engineering qualification is a plus.
- Ability to read technical drawings, or learn to (training can be provided).
- Understanding of GD&T, or ability to learn (training can be provided).

Other Requirements
- Able to work 5 days per week on site in Dundee (hybrid work is not available for this role).
- You must have the Right to Work in the UK (no Visa sponsorship is available for this position) and a degree of flexibility to work overtime at short notice.
