Our Port Health and Environmental Services Department is expanding, and we are now recruiting within our Private Sector Housing Team. This is an exciting time to join the service, as we strengthen our capacity to improve housing standards, protect tenants, and deliver proportionate enforcement, including implementation of the Renters’ Rights Act 2025.
We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and experienced Team Leader with a housing related or scientific degree to join our supportive and proactive Private Sector Housing team. Reporting into the Private Sector Housing Manager, you will lead on the day‑to‑day operation of the management service and will be responsible for managing a team of housing officers. The role involves leading complex investigations, carrying out inspections, and taking formal enforcement action to ensure residents live in safe, healthy, and well‑managed homes. Ideally you will have enforcement experience, be used to dealing with members of the public and proven people management skills.
Essential requirements:
- Housing related or scientific degree
- Registered with EHRB/CIEH would be an advantage
- Membership of a recognised professional body
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a housing related role
- Experience in leading complex investigations and taking formal enforcement action
- Strong communication and proven people management skills
