We are looking for a dynamic, confident and forward-thinking leader to oversee and develop our Environmental and Public Protection services. The Role: You will provide strategic and operational leadership across Private Sector Housing, Environmental Protection & Crime, and Public Protection. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and inspiring managers and teams to deliver high-quality, customer-focused services.
- Overseeing daily operations and ensuring compliance with legislation, policies and governance.
- Driving continuous improvement, innovation and efficiency.
- Leading preparations for significant legislative reforms, including the Renters Reform Act.
- Managing complex issues and promptly finding deliverable solutions.
- Representing the department at senior meetings, committees and stakeholder forums.
- Supporting business continuity, emergency response and out-of-hours service needs as required.
About You: Significant management experience across the environmental health spectrum. Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills. The confidence to challenge, influence and inspire others. Strong technical knowledge and experience managing budgets and performance. Relevant degree and professional qualifications and evidence of ongoing CPD. The ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and adapt to change. Experience in leading Private Sector Housing or Environmental Protection is particularly desirable but not essential. Due to the nature of this role, the successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check as part of their pre-employment clearances. A full valid UK driving licence is also essential for this role.
