Dovehaven Care Homes are recruiting for a Care Assistant to join our team at Avonleigh Gardens on Clyde Street in Oldham, working nights from 8pm to 8am on a rota basis with alternate weekend availability required. A 33-hour contract is available. Please note – there is a genuine occupational requirement for female-only applicants, as you will be supporting females.

Avonleigh Gardens is a residential home catering for up to 59 residents. Our aim is to ensure all our residents feel as comfortable and happy as possible. Our homes promote independence, dignity, and respect through positive risk-taking and empowerment.

About the Role:

  • As a care assistant, you will work together with other staff in the running of the home.
  • You will aim to maintain high standards of care and service towards service users, relatives, visitors, and other members of staff.
  • You will be providing a range of personal and practical care to our residents.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and a person-centred approach to caring for older people.
  • Be self-motivated, resilient, and well-organised.
  • Able to work well under pressure and flexible to meet the needs of the residents and the home.
  • Provide assistance, personal care, activities, and companionship to residents.
  • Be alert to residents’ needs, health, and wellbeing.
  • Respect the residents’ dignity and privacy.
  • Work with residents and their families to deliver tailored care to each individual.
  • Assist with mealtimes and safe moving.
  • Maintain accurate records for each resident.

Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent communication and written skills.
  • Committed to providing a high standard of care, promoting dignity and respect.
  • Previous experience working within an elderly care setting.
  • Team player but able to work on your own initiative.
  • Dependable, able to work well under pressure and flexible to meet the needs of the home.
  • Previous supervisory experience within a care/nursing home setting and experience of working with the elderly.
  • A minimum of an NVQ level 2 in health & social care along with a dedicated passion for providing exceptional care.
