Dovehaven Care Homes are recruiting for a Senior Care Assistant to join our team at Marsh House, Ulnes Walton Lane, Leyland. Working nights from 7.30pm to 7.30am, including every other weekend, with a 33-hour contract available.

Marsh House is a residential care home catering for up to 33 residents, specialising in dementia care. Our aim is to ensure all our residents feel as comfortable as possible, promoting independence, dignity, and respect through positive risk-taking and empowerment.

About the role:

As the Senior Care Assistant, you will manage the care team within the home, ensuring that care staff adhere to CQC guidelines while providing exceptional levels of care to residents. You will promote and deliver high standards of care and supervise and support less experienced staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and a person-centred approach to caring for older people.
  • Self-motivated, resilient, and well-organised.
  • Able to work well under pressure and flexible to meet the needs of the residents and the home.
  • Provide assistance, personal care, activities, and companionship to residents.
  • Be alert to residents’ needs, health, and wellbeing.
  • Respect the residents’ dignity and privacy.
  • Work with residents and their families to deliver tailored care to each individual.
  • Assist with mealtimes and safe moving.
  • Maintain accurate records for each resident.

Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent communication and written skills.
  • Committed to providing a high standard of care, promoting dignity and respect.
  • Previous experience working within an elderly care setting.
  • Team player but able to work on your own initiative.
  • Dependable, able to work well under pressure and flexible to meet the needs of the home.
  • Previous supervisory experience within a care/nursing home setting and experience of working with the elderly.
  • A minimum of an NVQ level 2 in health & social care along with a dedicated passion for providing exceptional care.
