Based at Dove House Hospice, Chamberlain Road, Hull, HU8 8DH. Works 37.5 hours per week, 09:00-17:00 Monday–Friday with occasional evenings and weekends.

Job Summary

Help create a safe and sustainable environment where compassionate care can thrive. Dove House Hospice is looking for a proactive and experienced Health, Safety & Sustainability Manager to lead our approach to health, safety and environmental practice across the organisation. This key role ensures our patients, families, staff, and volunteers are supported by a safe, compliant and well‑managed environment.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and improving health, safety and environmental management systems
  • Keeping policies up to date and aligned with legislation and best practice
  • Supporting managers to deliver robust risk assessments and controls
  • Embedding safe systems of work across diverse teams
  • Overseeing incident reporting, investigation and RIDDOR compliance
  • Carrying out audits, inspections and fire safety checks
  • Working with regulators and external partners where required

Qualifications

  • Recognised qualification such as NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Experience in a health and safety advisory or management role
  • Strong knowledge of relevant UK legislation
  • Experience of risk assessments, investigations and compliance
  • Confidence to support, challenge and influence at all levels
