Costs Draftsperson
The Opportunity
An established law firm is looking to recruit an experienced Costs Draftsperson to join its expanding in-house costs team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a drafting specialist to support senior costs professionals on a varied caseload of claimant Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence matters.
The successful candidate will have between two and ten years' costs drafting experience, gained either within a law firm or specialist costs practice.
You'll play a key role in preparing high-quality costs documentation while working alongside an experienced and collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities
- Preparing formal bills for detailed assessment across fast track and multi-track matters.
- Drafting supporting costs documentation, including N260 Statements of Costs.
- Preparing Precedent documents, including Precedent S and Q.
- Assisting with the preparation and commencement of Detailed Assessment and Part 8 proceedings.
- Reviewing client ledgers and disbursements to ensure accuracy.
- Preparing risk assessments and supporting documentation.
- Completing drafting work within agreed deadlines and quality standards.
- Working closely with senior costs professionals to progress matters efficiently.
- Maintaining accurate records and complying with internal procedures.
About You
The ideal candidate will have
- Between two and ten years' experience drafting claimant Personal Injury costs.
- Experience preparing formal bills for detailed assessment.
- A strong understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules and the detailed assessment process.
- Experience preparing Precedent documentation, including H, R, Q and S.
- Excellent drafting, communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to manage workloads effectively and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and consistently high standards of accuracy.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and familiarity with costs drafting or case management software.
A legal qualification (LLB, GDL or LPC) would be advantageous, as would previous in-house experience.
