A leading UK-wide law firm is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Costs Lawyer / Senior Law Costs Draftsperson to join its growing specialist Costs team. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior costs professional to play a key role within a forward-thinking department handling complex, high-value costs matters. As the team continues to grow, this position offers the chance to take ownership of a varied caseload, support junior colleagues, and contribute to the ongoing development of a market-leading in-house costs function.

The Role:

  • Drafting and managing high-value Bills of Costs
  • Preparing and reviewing Costs Budgets
  • Drafting Points of Dispute and Replies
  • Conducting costs negotiations and settlement discussions
  • Attending Detailed Assessment Hearings and CCMCs where required
  • Providing strategic costs advice to fee earners and legal teams
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the Costs team
  • Contributing to process improvements and the development of efficient ways of working
  • Supporting the use of technology and innovation within the department

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Significant experience working as a Costs Lawyer or Senior Law Costs Draftsperson
  • Strong technical knowledge of costs law and procedure
  • Experience handling complex costs matters, ideally across areas such as personal injury, clinical negligence, group litigation, or commercial disputes
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to advise internal stakeholders effectively
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior colleagues
  • Confidence managing a complex caseload independently
