This role sits within a growing legal team, but the key thing is that it doesn't operate like a traditional law firm construction team. The whole idea is to work alongside wider real estate, consulting and development teams on broader projects, rather than sitting in a purely legal silo.
The role is heavily client-facing and they're specifically looking for somebody who can run matters autonomously, build relationships directly with clients and become a visible part of the wider project team. It would suit somebody who enjoys the commercial side of construction law and wants more involvement with clients and projects, rather than being pulled into process-heavy support work.
In terms of the work, it's currently more development-led/JCT work rather than heavy NEC infrastructure delivery, but the wider ambition is definitely moving towards larger multidisciplinary project involvement. One example is the development around the new major sports development, where the legal team is working alongside colleagues from across the wider business.
The wider platform is a major selling point. This is part of a huge global organisation with genuine opportunities for international collaboration, travel and internal development. There are also opportunities to engage with international colleagues through wider training and development programmes.
As the team are growing, candidates are considered from a transactional, contentious or mixed background. Overall, this feels far less like a traditional "move firms" opportunity and more like joining a growing platform where construction lawyers can become part of broader commercial and development projects.
