The Role:
As a Legal Secretary within the Family Law team, you’ll provide vital support to fee earners handling a broad caseload, including divorce, financial remedy, and private children matters. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing comprehensive secretarial support to family solicitors, including digital dictation, diary management, and client correspondence.
- Preparing legal documents, forms, and court bundles in a timely and accurate manner.
- Managing incoming calls and liaising with clients, courts, and third parties in a professional and confidential manner.
- Ensuring all file administration is kept up to date, both electronically and in hard copy, using the firm’s case management system.
- Handling billing and time-recording tasks, ensuring prompt invoicing and accurate financial records.
- Assisting with file opening and compliance procedures, including anti-money laundering checks.
- Supporting the wider team with general administrative tasks and contributing to a positive office environment.
- Previous experience working as a legal secretary, ideally within a family law team.
- Excellent typing and IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with case management systems.
- Strong communication skills, with a sensitive and professional approach when dealing with clients going through difficult circumstances.
- Highly organised and detail-focused, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- A team player with a proactive attitude, ready to support others and contribute to the smooth running of the department.
