Douglas Scott Legal Recruitment are representing an international law firm in its search for a Non-Contentious Construction Associate to join its growing Edinburgh team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded Construction & Engineering team advising on major development and infrastructure projects across the UK and internationally. The team is in a clear growth phase with strong deal flow and ongoing investment in the practice.

The Construction & Engineering team sits within a leading international law firm and works closely with colleagues across real estate, finance and disputes. The team advises on complex, high-value projects across the built environment and is recognised for delivering commercially focused, practical advice to a sophisticated client base. The Edinburgh team forms part of a wider UK and international construction offering, providing excellent exposure to cross-border work and high-profile mandates.

The Role

  • Advising on the construction aspects of major development and engineering projects
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating standard form construction contracts (primarily JCT; NEC experience desirable but not essential)
  • Supporting on construction aspects of real estate and development finance transactions
  • Managing your own matters with appropriate supervision
  • Supporting senior lawyers on complex, high-value transactions
  • Working collaboratively across UK and international offices
  • Involvement in business development and team growth initiatives

The Ideal Candidate

  • NQ-6 PQE solicitor with experience in non-contentious construction law
  • Strong experience with JCT contracts (NEC experience advantageous but not essential)
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
  • Strong commercial awareness and a pragmatic approach
  • Confident communicator with strong client-facing ability
  • Able to manage a busy workload and work effectively in a team environment
  • Keen to develop within a leading international platform
