Job Description

Head of Private ClientLocation: Bolton / Hybrid WorkingSalary: Competitive, Dependent on ExperienceA well-regarded and progressive law firm is seeking a Head of Private Client to lead its expanding department in Bolton. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced and ambitious lawyer to take on a senior leadership role within a supportive and forward-thinking environment. The firm is recognised for its commitment to professional development, progression opportunities, and delivering exceptional client care.  The Role:
  • Oversee and lead the Private Client department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal services.
  • Manage and supervise a team of solicitors, legal executives, and support staff, providing mentorship, guidance, and training.
  • Drive business development initiatives to grow the department’s client base and strengthen the firm’s presence in the market.
  • Handle a portfolio of complex and high-value matters, including Wills, Probate, Trusts, Inheritance Tax Planning, and Court of Protection work.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Set and monitor departmental targets, budgets, and performance objectives in line with the firm’s wider strategy.
  • Foster strong client relationships, delivering practical and empathetic advice tailored to individual client needs.
  • Collaborate with other Heads of Department to contribute to the overall success and growth of the firm.

  What We’re Looking For:

  • A qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with significant experience in Private Client law (ideally 6+ years’ PQE).
  • Proven track record of managing or supervising a team within a Private Client department.
  • Strong technical expertise across Wills, Probate, Trusts, Inheritance Tax Planning, and Court of Protection.
  • Commercial acumen, with the ability to identify opportunities for growth and drive business development.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and develop others.
  • A proactive and strategic mindset, with the confidence to lead a busy and growing department.
