Douglas City Council are seeking a skilled, reliable and customer focused Plumber to join our Housing & Property Department to work within a supportive team committed to delivering responsive, professional and high-quality maintenance services to our community.
Carrying out a wide range of responsive and programmed plumbing repairs and maintenance works across Council owned domestic and commercial properties, you must be competent in a broad range of internal and external plumbing works with an ability to undertake minor associated construction work necessary to complete repairs. You must also have knowledge and experience of health and safety documentation, including risk assessments and method statements and an understanding of safe manual-handling techniques with the ability to carry out manual-handling operations.
You will be an experienced plumber with a strong practical background in construction, building maintenance or domestic repairs. You will be able to work independently and as part of a team. You must be able to organise your workload effectively, meet deadlines, work with minimal supervision and provide a professional service at all times.
Applicants must have a City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant trade, relevant post-qualification experience, be registered with the Department of Enterprise Register of Craftsmen and Craftswomen as well as a full, clean and valid driving licence. Strong communication skills, including the ability to deal fairly, respectfully and confidently with tenants and customer situations is also essential.
