We are looking for an experienced and technically minded Maintenance Officer, to join our Housing & Property Department, to help ensure our tenants continue receiving a high quality, efficient and responsive maintenance service. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who combines practical construction and maintenance knowledge with strong organisational, communication, time-management and budget management skills.

This role is key to keeping the Council’s housing stock safe, compliant and in good repair. Working across reactive repairs, cyclical maintenance and planned programmes you will monitor internal operative and contractor performance, oversee works, provide technical advice and assist in shaping future investment in our properties.

Applicants must have an HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in construction, housing, building, technical or management studies. Experience of planned and cyclical maintenance programmes, including budgetary planning and control is essential. A proven track record of supervising construction or maintenance work in accordance with health and safety requirements and experience of monitoring teams and contractor performance is required. Knowledge of tendering, contract supervision, building construction techniques and common building defects is also necessary along with a full clean and valid driving licence.
