Job Description Business Development Manager/ Bid Manager A well-established specialist contractor is seeking an experienced Business Development & Bid Manager to generate new opportunities and support profitable growth across the UK. The role will focus primarily on the refurbishment market, developing relationships with end users, councils, surveyors, contractors and other key decision-makers. This is a varied national role combining business development, technical sales and bid support. You will identify and track opportunities, carry out surveys, help prepare specifications and proposals, and work closely with operational teams to ensure projects are handed over and delivered successfully. Develop and implement a national business development plan to achieve agreed sales and margin targets. Identify and secure new clients and project opportunities, with a particular focus on refurbishment work. Build strong relationships with property owners, end users, councils, contractors, surveyors and other key decision-makers. Maintain approved-contractor relationships and support applications for new council or client approvals. Deliver technical and CPD presentations to prospective clients, consultants and surveying teams. Carry out site surveys and provide technical advice, guidance and outline proposal specifications. Prepare, coordinate and track quotations, specifications, proposals and live project opportunities. Assess project viability, pricing strategy and margin potential with commercial and operational colleagues. Support contract teams from order stage through delivery to help achieve a smooth and profitable outcome. Monitor market trends and competitor activity, sharing useful intelligence with the wider business. Proven experience in business development, technical sales, bid management or specification sales within construction. Experience of the refurbishment, building-envelope or specialist contracting market would be highly advantageous. Comfortable conducting site surveys and discussing technical requirements with clients and project teams. A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally as required.
