We are working with a well-established specialist contractor within the facade and building envelope sector, looking to appoint an experienced Senior Designer to join their growing design team. This is a key role within the business, focused on delivering high-quality technical design solutions across a range of complex projects.

The Role

  • You will be responsible for producing and managing design deliverables across multiple projects, ensuring all work is delivered on time, compliant, and to the highest technical standards.
  • You will also support design management and mentor junior team members, playing a key role in the overall success of the design function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce and manage project design deliverables in line with programme requirements.
  • Ensure all designs meet technical and statutory compliance standards.
  • Liaise with estimating and sales teams to support project development.
  • Identify and manage interfaces with adjacent trades and structures.
  • Prepare and manage RFIs and technical queries.
  • Produce technical submittals, GA drawings, and fabrication information.
  • Ensure alignment between design drawings and structural calculations.
  • Coordinate building physics requirements (thermal, acoustic etc.).
  • Review, revise, and reissue drawings in line with project feedback.
  • Attend and contribute to design and project meetings.
  • Carry out site visits and basic surveys where required.
  • Check and review design outputs from other team members.
  • Provide technical support across internal departments.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Design with a strong focus on health & safety throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify and mitigate design risks and residual hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with current building regulations and safety legislation.
  • Consider sustainability, environmental impact, and project requirements (e.g. BREEAM).
  • Promote efficient design practices and reduction of waste.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in a Senior Design role within facades, glazing, or building envelope.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and coordination.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Experience producing 2D & 3D technical drawings and fabrication details.
  • Strong communication skills - able to work with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Leadership ability with experience mentoring junior designers.
  • Good knowledge of technical compliance, specifications, and regulations.
