This stunning four-star hotel is centrally located within Hull, on Ferensway, minutes from the train station and St Stephens Shopping Centre. The hotel is opposite the Hull Truck Theatre and is a short stroll to the bustling downtown and marina area. This contemporary-style hotel offers a stylish stay for corporate guests and also accommodates leisure guests and family stays with its spacious and relaxing environment. The hotel boasts 165 bedrooms and a 1,000sqm ballroom for events and conferences. There is a Marco Pierre White Steakhouse and Grill offering hearty meals and a pleasurable atmosphere. Guests will enjoy relaxing with food and drinks in our lounge bar or may choose to visit our rooftop bar The Lexington for panoramic views of Hull and a handmade cocktail on the terrace.

What we’re looking for:

Are you passionate about people, drinks and food? If the answer is yes, then this is the role for you. We are seeking a bubbly and friendly candidate who likes to be in a customer-facing position. You will ideally have worked within a hospitality setting previously and be familiar with the inner workings of a cocktail bar; however, this is not essential as training will be provided. What is essential though is a passion for hospitality. You will be hard-working, able to work alongside others as part of a team, and able to speak confidently to customers. You will also be willing to work a range of shifts, including daytime, evenings and weekends.

Day in the life of:

You will be working within the hotel’s bar team alongside passionate team members whose goal is to ensure our guests have a fantastic time. You’ll be mainly working with the hotel bar which is located on the top floor with panoramic views. You will be responsible to provide table service. We are seeking Bar Hosts who are keen to up-sell and are motivated to drive sales (which in turn increases your tips).

Example key responsibilities:

  • Providing excellent customer service at all times
  • Fulfilling bar backing and table service duties
  • Taking food and drinks orders
  • Setting up and closing down of the bar
  • Cash handling in line with the company’s Cash Handling Mandate
  • Excellent product knowledge with specific attention to cocktails
  • Working as a team to provide exceptional service
  • Receipt and unloading of deliveries
  • Stock control responsibilities
  • Working well with hotel department team members
  • To comply with all hotel policies, procedures and mandates at all times
  • Taking opportunities to up-sell, including promoting premium drinks and packages
