Double Time Distribution Ltd is an ambitious haulage company based in Flintshire, operating a fleet of 20 HGVs and 15 vans across the UK. We’re looking for an experienced Senior Transport Planner to join our team and play a key role in our continued growth.
This is far more than a planning role. You’ll take ownership of the day-to-day operation of our fleet while developing strong customer relationships, identifying new opportunities and helping drive the continued success of the business. The successful candidate will inherit an established customer base while also have the opportunity to develop new business, with an uncapped commission structure that rewards success. This is a key position within the business, offering the opportunity to work directly with the Director and play a significant role in shaping the future growth of the company.

The Role
You’ll be responsible for planning and coordinating our fleet of 20 HGVs and 15 vans operating throughout the UK in the general haulage sector, ensuring vehicles are utilised efficiently while delivering exceptional customer service. Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning daily vehicle movements to maximise efficiency and profitability.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, drivers and subcontractors.
- Developing existing customer accounts while identifying and securing new business opportunities.
- Negotiating rates to maximise revenue and profitability.
- Managing customer enquiries and providing professional, timely communication.
- Ensuring compliance with drivers' hours legislation and transport regulations.
- Solving operational challenges quickly and effectively.
- Producing accurate, professional emails and maintaining clear records.
- Working closely with the Director to improve operational performance and customer service.
- Making occasional out-of-hours adjustments to transport plans when operationally required.
About You
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous transport planning experience (essential).
- Strong knowledge of UK geography.
- A good understanding of drivers' hours legislation.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Commercial awareness with the confidence to develop customer accounts.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook and transport management systems.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions.
- A Transport Manager CPC qualification (preferred but not essential).
- A positive attitude, a willingness to learn and the drive to help grow the business.
