Double Impact is a Peer-Led registered charity and not for profit organisation, established in 1998 and classified as a LERO – Lived Experience Recovery Organisation. Our Mission is to provide a quality service, which promotes recovery and community integration for people who have experienced the harms of problematic alcohol & drug use and gambling. This is achieved by providing opportunities for strengths-based personal development, recovery orientation, healthy choices, education, vocational training, pathways to volunteering and employment and connection to lived experience peer networks. By placing our service users/members’ needs at the heart of our ethos and their own recovery experience, we provide a uniquely holistic, flexible service. We believe that with the right support everybody can recover and that in recovery anything is possible.
We have now been commissioned to deliver a ‘Recovery from Gambling Harms Recovery Service’ – which will be known as TimeOut North Lincolnshire. This service will mirror our existing TimeOut Nottingham City Service.
We have been commissioned to develop, deliver and evaluate a recovery service for adults in North Lincolnshire affected by gambling related harm because of their own gambling. This project will run initially for 2 years. In brief, the aims of TimeOut Gambling Harms Recovery Service will be:
- To provide personalised, integrated and holistic support to people experiencing Gambling Related Harms because of their own current or previous gambling; and to improve their wellbeing and quality of life
- To support those experiencing Gambling Related Harms to identify and build upon their own assets and strengths to develop their own recovery capital
- To reduce the negative impacts of current and legacy Gambling Related Harms
- To equip people experiencing Gambling Related Harms because of their own current or previous gambling with skills and strategies to prevent and recover from relapse, ultimately enhancing their ability to sustain their recovery over the long term
- To facilitate the establishment of a lived experience peer network
- To reduce the stigma associated with people affected by gambling harms
As the initial member of TimeOut staff, you will be supported by the Scunthorpe Recovery Service Project Manager on a daily basis, and the wider assets of Double Impact to fulfil the following key duties:
Responsibilities
Service Delivery and Member Support
- Serve as the first point of contact for individuals experiencing gambling-related harms.
- Deliver responsive, personalised 1:1 strength-based recovery support tailored to individual needs.
- Facilitate guided peer support groups that promote recovery capital and resilience.
- Lead the development of a ‘lived experience’ forum to co-produce service improvements and self-directed recovery communities.
- Supported by Double Impact colleagues, Lead the promotion and public awareness of TimeOut through personal contact, social and mainstream media.
Service Integration and Coordination
- Develop and embed the TimeOut service within the community landscape in North Lincolnshire.
- Facilitate access to NHS Gambling Harms Treatment Services and wider wellbeing resources.
- Ensure holistic recovery plans meet individual support needs, including culturally-specific gambling support.
- Establish and maintain strategic alliances with professionals, partnerships and organizations across North Lincolnshire.
Volunteer and Training Scheme Development
- Work in partnership to identify training and personal development opportunities for TimeOut members.
- Support project members’ progression and personal development, in order for them to access volunteer/paid employment roles within the project, wider gambling support services and health and social care settings.
- Facilitate the delivery of guided peer support groups to TimeOut members.
We are looking for someone with direct lived experience of the consequences of gambling harm and of abstinence-based recovery from gambling harms, additionally:
- Experience in personal recovery and actively committed to their own recovery journeys.
- Experience in facilitating peer support/mutual aid groups and working with individuals in a recovery context.
- Background in developing and implementing personalised recovery plans and conducting comprehensive assessments.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate individuals.
- Competency in using strengths-based tools and approaches, such as the Gambling Recovery Cloudâ„¢. Training for the above can be provided to upskill where required.

Lived Experience
Lived experience of overcoming gambling-related harm is an essential requirement for this role, providing valuable insights and empathy in supporting members through their recovery journey. The Specialist Gambling Recovery Worker will play a crucial role in building and sustaining a quality Aftercare service for gambling-related harms in Nottingham. Leveraging their lived experience and best practices, the role aims to empower individuals to achieve and maintain recovery.
