Job Description

Main Purpose

The Growing production manager will play a pivotal role in day-to-day operations of Double H Nurseries. They will oversee all growing operations, ensuring exceptional quality of output while maintaining efficiencies and H&S standards.

Basic Tasks

1. Mentor and lead your team to ensure short-term and long-term objectives are achieved
2. Promote and lead a continuous improvement culture, setting performance improvement targets and encouraging change
3. Plan resources and capabilities to meet the business plan
4. Facilitate and promote cross departmental working
5. Ensure operating costs are identified and efficiently managed
6. Monitor and analyse growing efficiency, identifying areas for improvement and implement corrective actions
7. Celebrate good performance
8. Develop a positive work environment, promoting skill development and career growth
9. Set high standards of housekeeping and quality

Key Skills

1. Leadership & Interpersonal skills
2. Experience in Horticulture, farming or FMCG preferred
3. Process development/continuous improvement

6. Understanding financials/costings process
7. Strong verbal and written communication skills
8. Understanding of Lean principles (preferred)

Responsibilities

People: Growing Operations Team

Functions: Potting, Spacing, Staking & Grading

Equipment: Maintenance of growing equipment and machinery using preventative servicing to minimise downtime. Renewal of equipment that is no longer serviceable.

Health and Safety: Safe and Legal operation of the site and equipment to meet audit requirements.
