Protein Metrics is seeking a talented Scientific Cloud Ops Specialist to provide overall support and implement professional services for our cloud-based Byosphere Software. You will leverage deep experience leading software implementations and develop expert knowledge of Protein Metrics solutions to inspire customer confidence.

This position is a mix of Cloud, Desktop application Deployment, Maintenance, Support & Customer user support hence the need for Scientific/Life Science exposure. You will be responsible for providing technical and scientific customer support for Protein Metrics applications.

You will work within a small team, deploying, upgrading, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining our desktop product as well as our client/server-based system (deployed either on premises or on AWS). This role involves working on Scientific software and supporting customers with queries on the scientific software, so possessing an understanding of the Biopharma or Life Science industry is essential.

Ideally, you will come from a background in Science such as from the wet-lab with a strong focus on technology and software tools, possibly acting as an admin, or in pre-sales, technical support for scientific software or a similar field. This position will report to the Enterprise Services Lead and will provide support to customers across multiple time zones with a primary emphasis on Europe.

In this role you will get to:

  • Install, provision, and administer Protein Metrics applications on Linux and Windows environments (on desktop, on-premises servers, and AWS Cloud).
  • Maintain, upgrade, and migrate Protein Metrics applications for customers.
  • Conduct root cause analysis following incidents and implement preventive actions, documenting incidents and following up with Product Management and Engineering for resolution.
  • Proactively monitor the cloud environments and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Monitor security threats and health of our systems using tools and services such as DataDog or CloudWatch and address alerts.
  • Prepare and maintain documented operating procedures.
  • Define and implement integration solutions between our Enterprise Software and external tools such as ELN and LIMS.
  • Communicate with customers and their IT to deploy our Enterprise Software solution.
  • Act as the voice of the customer for all things related to their technical success in using Protein Metrics software.

We are looking for people who have 5+ years of experience working in Pharma/Biopharma environments, with an education or work experience in Bioinformatics, Chemistry or Biology, and have developed technical experience in AWS, Linux, and Python. You will have a proven background in supporting cloud environments or cloud operations for enterprise scientific software users.
