The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected independent accountancy and business advisory firm with an outstanding reputation for supporting owner-managed businesses across the North West.

Due to continued growth, the firm is looking to appoint an

Accounts Assistant Manager to support the leadership of its Accounts team.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant looking to step into management, or an existing Assistant Manager seeking a new challenge within a progressive and supportive practice.

Working closely with Managers, Directors and Partners, you'll take ownership of a varied client portfolio while helping to develop junior members of the team and contributing to the continued success of the department.

The Role

You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality accounting and advisory services while supporting the day-to-day management of the Accounts team.

  • Managing a portfolio of owner-managed business clients
  • Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts under UK accounting standards
  • Reviewing corporation tax computations and personal tax compliance
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for clients and building long-term relationships
  • Planning and managing workflow to ensure deadlines are achieved
  • Reviewing work completed by junior team members and providing constructive feedback
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing trainees and junior accountants
  • Supporting Managers and Directors with more complex accounting matters
  • Identifying opportunities to provide additional advisory services
  • Supporting business development initiatives and networking opportunities
  • Working collaboratively across Accounts, Tax and Audit teams to deliver an outstanding client experience.
  • The Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have

  • ACA or ACCA qualified
  • Strong experience gained within UK accountancy practice
  • Experience managing a portfolio of owner-managed business clients
  • Good technical knowledge of FRS 102 and UK accounting standards
  • Experience reviewing accounts and supporting junior staff
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Commercial awareness and an advisory mindset
  • A proactive attitude with a genuine passion for delivering excellent client service
