We're working with a multi-award-winning engineering specialist based in Manchester who are seeking a hands-on Finance Manager, positioned as succession planning for the Finance Director who plans to retire within the next 12 months. Turnover has doubled in the last 2 years to £18m, with a clear roadmap and orderbook to achieve £25m in the next 12–24 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver monthly management accounts, budgets, and forecasts
- Drive insight through financial reporting and analysis for senior leaders
- Manage cash flow, balance sheet, and P&L integrity
- Handle credit control, payment runs, VAT returns, and payroll liaison
- Build financial dashboards and implement KPIs
- Lead on systems/process improvement and automation
- Identify and deliver cost-saving initiatives
- Act as a key advisor to the FD and support succession planning
About You
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent), or a highly-skilled QBE
- 5+ years’ experience in commercial finance or management accounting
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, SME or project-led environment
- Strong financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting skills
- Commercially astute with excellent Excel/reporting tool capability
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and a strong communicator
- Sage 50 experience preferred but not essential
