Are you an experienced Payroll Manager looking for your next challenge? We're working with a large and well-established organisation seeking a Payroll Manager to join their payroll function on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong technical payroll expertise who enjoys improving processes, driving system efficiencies and working within a high-volume environment. You will play a key role in ensuring a smooth transition and supporting the payroll operation during an exciting period of change. There is also genuine potential for the position to become permanent.

The Role

Reporting into the head of payroll, you'll be responsible for supporting the delivery of an accurate and compliant monthly payroll for circa 15,000 employees. This role is heavily focused on technical payroll knowledge, systems and process improvement rather than people management, although previous supervisory experience would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and supporting the end-to-end payroll process
  • Ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance and adherence to legislation
  • Working with iTrent and Excel to analyse, reconcile and improve payroll processes
  • Supporting payroll system implementations, upgrades and enhancements
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline and improve payroll operations
  • Acting as a key point of contact for payroll-related queries and escalations
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders across HR, Finance and Operations

About You

  • Proven payroll management or senior payroll experience within a high-volume environment
  • Strong technical payroll knowledge
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience using iTrent (highly desirable)
  • Payroll systems implementation or project experience
  • A proactive, self-starting approach with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Previous experience supervising or managing at least 1-2 team members
