Are you an experienced Hi Intensity therapist looking to support families and help them stay together? Dorset Council\’s Safeguarding Families Together team has an opportunity for you.

The Safeguarding Families Together (SFT) approach recognizes the importance of adult workers supporting families to bring about positive changes in their lives. SFT is a strength-based model that promotes working with families to enable children to remain safely at home. It focuses on identifying achievable changes in daily life and providing dedicated support to facilitate these changes. A key principle of the service is the use of motivational interviewing techniques to motivate parents to make and maintain changes, reducing the risk of significant harm to children.

The responsibility for a family is shared among a team of professionals, including social workers, Child and Family Workers, domestic abuse practitioners & officers, recovery workers, mental health practitioners, and psychologists. All work collaboratively to support families and ensure children’s safety. Team members participate in group supervision, contribute to analysis, and participate in decision-making.

Work in a co-located MDT team with Social Care Practitioners, Domestic Abuse Officers, Probation Officers, Drug & Alcohol Workers, and Mental Health Workers. The team supports families to stay together where it is safe to do so, using motivational interviewing and CBT techniques to empower parents and improve outcomes for children and their wellbeing. Addressing adults\’ complex needs helps reduce risks to children.

Responsibilities include attending group case management supervision, providing trauma-focused CBT in patients\’ homes using evidence-based models, and receiving clinical supervision.

This is a fixed-term role. For NHS staff, it will be offered on a secondment basis only. Please obtain permission before applying.

This role requires an Enhanced DBS check, which the Trust will cover. Applicants enrolled in the DBS update service can present a valid certificate instead of a new check.
