Dorset Healthcare Estates and Facilities Directorate is seeking to appoint a conscientious and self-motivated Building Craft Operative to join our delivery team based at our office and workshop facilities in Wareham.
Role Overview: As a Building Craft Operative, you will deliver pre-planned maintenance and quality repair services across various Trust premises, including hospitals, health centres, mental health inpatient units, and administrative buildings throughout Dorset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out multi-skilled building tasks such as carpentry, painting, window repairs, lock repairs, artexing, glazing, bricklaying, plastering, tiling, roofing, road marking, and clearing blocked sewers, drains, gutters, and downpipes.
- Work alongside electrical and mechanical delivery teams, facility managers, and clinical staff to ensure effective maintenance services.
- Provide technical backup to other trades staff as needed.
- Participate in a 24-hour on-call service covering all of Dorset.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- UK driving licence is essential.
- Ability to operate a tracked vehicle (for business use and commuting).
- Current Skilled Worker sponsorship is required; applications requiring sponsorship are ineligible.
- Enhanced DBS check required, which the Trust will cover.

- This is a fixed-term role; for current NHS staff, it is offered on a secondment basis, subject to permission.

- Recruitment and Retention Premium of £2600, NHS Pension, 27 days leave plus Bank Holidays, and overtime at premium rates are offered.
