Dorset Travel coordinates the transport provision for children and young people with additional needs within Dorset as well as out of county. The team also supplies and supports transport needs for Mainstream, Child Care, and Adults.

A Regular Passenger Assistant is required from the Wareham Area, contracted for approximately 10 hours per week - Term Time Only, commencing at £12.26 per hour, working Monday mornings and Friday afternoons only.

The role of a Passenger Assistant is to support children and young people with additional needs by providing assistance and support to maintain a safe environment during journeys to and from home and school. This vacancy specifically supports a young person(s) attending Trelors College, Alton.

Candidates need to be available on Monday mornings and Friday afternoons to align with school opening and closing times.

Dorset Travel is seeking caring, flexible, and responsible Passenger Assistants who have:

  • Knowledge of moderate and complex learning needs.
  • An understanding of safeguarding children.

You must be physically fit with the ability to run, bend, stretch, push, pull, lift, carry, and kneel to provide the necessary care for the position of Passenger Assistant.
