Dorset Travel coordinate the transport provision for children and young people with additional needs within Dorset as well as out of county. The team also supply and support transport need for Mainstream, Child Care as well as Adults.
A Regular Passenger Assistant is required from the Sherborne Area contracted at approximately 16 hours per week β Term Time Only commencing at Β£12.85 per hour.
The role of a Passenger Assistant is to support children and young people with additional needs providing assistance/support in maintaining a safe environment on the journey from/to home/school. This vacancy is to support a young person/s serving Yewstock School. Candidates need to be available morning and afternoon to coincide with school opening and closing times.
Responsibilities
- Support children and young people with additional needs, providing assistance and maintaining a safe environment on journeys to and from home and school.
- Live and work in accordance with safeguarding guidelines and school transport safety procedures.
- Report hazards and concerns promptly and accurately.
- Demonstrate customer care and flexible, responsible conduct.
Qualifications / Skills
- Knowledge of moderate and complex learning needs.
- An understanding of safeguarding children.
- Recognition of a hazard and how to report.
- Customer care mindset.
- Physical fitness to run, bend, stretch, push, pull, lift, carry and kneel to provide the required care.
