Family Advisor – East and Purbeck Locality (Full-time and Part-time positions available)

We’re looking for two new Family Advisors to join our friendly and passionate Family Help team – one full-time (37 hours) and one part-time (18.5 hours). You’ll be part of a supportive group of professionals who work closely with children, families and partner services across East and Purbeck to provide advice, guidance and practical support.

As a Family Advisor, you’ll help families access the right information and services when they need it most. You’ll build trusted relationships, work from our local Family Hubs, and play a key role in connecting families to community support. This varied and rewarding role offers the chance to develop your skills and understanding of family work in its broadest sense.

You’ll keep up to date with local services, act as a key link between the Family Information Service and localities, and share information across teams. You’ll provide advice and signposting both in person and online, support community outreach, and help strengthen digital engagement with families. The role also involves participating in duty rotas, supporting partners with family help processes, and contributing to our collective aim of improving outcomes for children and young people.

We offer a hybrid approach to working, with time spent at home, in Family Hubs, and at other Dorset Council offices.

About You

You’ll have strong administrative and ICT skills, be an excellent communicator, and enjoy working collaboratively with families, colleagues and professionals. You’ll bring flexibility, approachability and a genuine commitment to helping families thrive. A good knowledge of local services and the ability to travel around East and Purbeck are essential.
