Join a supportive and values-driven team at the heart of adult social care in Dorset. You’ll play a vital role in helping people access the right care at the right time, while developing your skills in commissioning, negotiation, and partnership working.
You’ll work alongside colleagues who are passionate about making a difference, in a role that offers real impact, challenge, and variety. You’ll also be part of a wider commissioning function shaping services across the county.
What You Will Be Doing
As part of the Older People/ Self Funders Adults Brokerage Team, you’ll source high-quality, cost-effective care packages and placements for people with a range of needs.
Your Work Will Involve
- brokering individual care packages and placements in care homes or at home
- negotiating fees and securing value for money from the care market
- managing and allocating block-contracted care hours and placements
- updating systems like Mosaic accurately and consistently
- working closely with operational teams, providers, commissioners and families
- identifying savings, contributing to market development and monitoring provider performance
- escalating risks and maintaining accurate records of unmet needs and care deficits
- You’ll also help support digital developments in the brokerage process, advise colleagues on the market, and contribute to contract performance monitoring.
About You
You’ll be solution-focused, resilient and collaborative, with a strong understanding of adult social care. You’ll bring experience relevant to brokering care and feel confident working across professional boundaries. You’ll also need to be:
- confident in negotiating and handling complex provider discussions
- organised, methodical and accurate in managing contracts and care data
- skilled in communication, both written and verbal
- comfortable working with digital systems and case management tools
- able to build relationships and navigate the wider health and care landscape
