To provide support to the OVM in her role as the key reference point for staff and patients regarding potential treatment.
Supports the OVM if necessary, in difficult patient interviews/complaints, which could involve having to handle verbal aggression, in a witness capacity.
To be familiar with current Department of Health Guidelines regarding Overseas Patients.
Knowledge of software programmes, dexterity, co-ordination for keyboard skills.
Knowledge and use of computer software for the creation of invoices and payments when the OVM is not available.
Demonstrate knowledge of the systems, personnel and workings of the Trust, and use this knowledge to answer diverse queries and re-direct appropriately.
Support the OVM on the pricing of patient treatment and the preparation of accurate data for invoicing purposes, using HRG Codes and block local data information.
Liaise with relevant personnel/departments to obtain sensitive/confidential information on patient treatment for costing purposes and calculating invoices, where directed by the OVM.
Obtain if necessary credit card and full payments from patients.
Input financial data into computerised database, where speed and accuracy are necessary.
Plan and prioritise own workload and manage own filing/pending system.
Maintain appropriate records for audit purposes.
Ability to work unsupervised when necessary.
Assist the OVM in identifying improvements to procedures and their implementation.
Essential criteria:
- NVQ Level 4 or AAT qualification or equivalent experience in similar role
- Experience within an overseas visitor’s environment
- Experience of communicating with Overseas visitors and their families
- Supporting responses to Freedom of Information requests
- Advanced keyboard, Excel, Word & Outlook Skills
- Numerate with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to prioritise & work to strict deadlines
- Proven record of developing new working relationships
- Strong organisational skills
- Supporting NHS debt recovery process and policy development
- Knowledge of the organisation’s objectives and activities
- Ability to work in a team environment
