Qualification
- ‘A’ level in Science or equivalent
- Pathology Support Worker qualification (NVQ3, IBMS) or further scientific qualification
- Previous knowledge of hospital IT systems
Experience
- Demonstrable experience of working in Pathology in UKAS accredited laboratory as an Associate Practitioner or Medical Laboratory Assistant
- Experience of using common IT software
- Demonstrable experience of Quality Control procedures
- Experience of using Laboratory IT systems (LIS)
- Experience of using hospital IT systems
- Experience of quality management system
Knowledge
- A good understanding of Cellular Pathology
- Be willing to undergo further training, according to the needs of the job and as part of personal development.
- Understanding of UKAS requirements
- Understand the role of Histopathology within the NHS.
Technical skills
- Capable of working effectively either independently, or as part of a team.
- Recognises and reports problems as they arise
- Works within limits of responsibility
