Here at Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, we have a fantastic opportunity available for an ICT Infrastructure and Security Specialist to join our team based in Potterne. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis working 37 hours per week. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £42,708 per annum (rising by annual increments to £45,718).
About the Role:
As our ICT Infrastructure and Security Specialist, you will support the ICT Infrastructure & Security Architect Manager and ICT Infrastructure and Security Manager in delivery of activity, including design, development and monitoring of networks, development and delivery of new projects, and documentation of ICT information. The service encourages flexible working and is open to flexible working options. The role will be based at Potterne Support Offices or Poundbury Support Offices with the flexibility to work from home / DWFRS Stations / Support Offices and we would welcome a conversation with the successful candidate on what type of flexible working arrangement will work best for you. There will be a requirement to attend your base location approximately 2 days a week for key activities and meetings.
Key responsibilities as our ICT Infrastructure and Security Specialist will include:
- Providing support and monitoring of all DWFRS networks and security, ensuring high levels of continued service across all operational and corporate DWFRS sites.
- Providing design, maintenance and delivery of changes to DWFRS infrastructure and security across the service and its datacentres.
- Directly managing small to medium sized projects from scoping, recommending design solutions, procurement, delivery budgets through to handover into business as usual (BAU) with management processes and documentation.
- Providing key specialist advice and support to large ICT whole team projects, including managing technicians to achieve project tasks, for example, rolling out of new systems and delivering the BAU tasks.
What we are looking for in our ICT Infrastructure and Security Specialist:
- Experience of working with ICT infrastructure, and security design, understanding of both local and nationally mandated compliance.
- Experience of project management, and dealing with multiple tasks at the same time.
- The ability to recognise issues and generate solutions to achieve business improvement.

If driving is essential to the role: You must have a full current driving licence and be able to fulfil the significant travel requirements of the role. Use of your own vehicle will be required; however, a Service vehicle may be available. Please note Service vehicles are manual transmission only. If you are unable to drive due to a disability, we would still welcome your application and will explore any reasonable adjustments that could be put in place. The role involves some evening and weekend working. A Standard Disclosure & Barring Service Check (DBS) clearance will be undertaken on the successful individual prior to offer of employment.
